UBC has announced that it will not be signing the new model license for copying that was recently negotiated by AUCC and Access Copyright. This is a particularly significant decision because the UBC President is the current Chair of the AUCC Board of Directors.

Bill C-11 is scheduled to be debated in the House of Commons today. The Legislative Committee on Bill C-11 presented its report to the House on March 15 which included eight technical amendments. A number of subsequent amendments have been proposed by opposition party members.

A U.S. federal court opinion on the Cambridge University Press et al. v Georgia State University copyright case was filed on May 11, 2012. The case involves alleged copyright infringement of materials on electronic reserve, and this judicial opinion appears largely to favour the defendants.
