Early Literacy: Independent Reading

New and emerging readers need to experience success and enjoyment as they read. Though readers' interests and experiences will vary widely, it is helpful to know some high quality titles that may be suited to readers at a certain developmental stage. The following lists are not intended to be restrictive, but to be used as tools for offering choices to young readers. Grade Level recommendations are approximate, and are intended to serve as a point of reference. Use these lists to find "good fit" books that developing readers will want to read on their own!
