The Piikani First Nation, who entered into Treaty No.7 with Her Majesty the Queen in Right of Canada, have historically declared and still maintain the position that “Education is a Treaty Right” pursuit to the terms, as well as the spirit and intent, of Treaty No.7.
As Piikani, it is our inherent duty and responsibility to ensure that our children, and those yet to be born for generations to come, will be guaranteed the right to learn our values and customs and to be educated in schools that practise and promote Piikani worldviews.
