At the very first meeting of the Interim Board of Governors in November of 1966, one of the board members reminded the others that it was important to retain all their work so that it may become the foundation of a University Archives. This forward looking observation provided the groundwork for the University of Lethbridge Archives.
The University of Lethbridge Archives is responsible for collecting and preserving noncurrent official records which document the University’s fulfillment of its functions of teaching, research, and public service. In essence, it houses much of the institution’s memory. Among its objectives are the following:
Archival materials selected for inclusion include; meeting minutes, correspondence, announcements, university publications, videos, audio tapes, reports, building plans, photographs, posters, drama productions, and artifacts.
While there are some restrictions on availability, most records are made available to patrons through an extensive reference service.
We are located on the upper level of the University Library in L1172.
