AI - Info for Faculty

Guidance for faculty on the use of AI technology in teaching and research

AI and Research

Generative AI has implications for faculty and their research, not just in teaching. Lines can be blurry when using AI to assist in writing papers not just for students, but for faculty as well. Much of the focus has been on use in the classroom, but researchers should stay abreast of the various developments happening in the research world as well.

Many publishers have released statements requiring authors to identify any parts of submissons which have been created by GenAI/LLMs. Please check your publisher's web site for the latest statement on publishing ethics and AI guidelines. For example:

Elsevier

Nature

Sage

Taylor & Francis

Wiley

Springer

Science

If you do use AI, please cite it according to your style's guidelines (see sidebar).
