Computers in the Library

Information on available computers, software and network access in the Library.

The information below relates to Library computers.   If you have any questions, please ask at the service desk.

Computers Stations are located throughout all three floors of the Library

Stand-up Computer Stations (OPACs)

  • Access to UofL printers using Bridge Bucks
  • No access to any UofL network drives
  • Equipped with DVD/CD drives, burning software, USB ports
  • Access to online Library resources

Wheelchair-Accessible Computers

  • Access to UofL printers using Bridge Bucks
  • No access to any UofL network drives
  • Equipped with DVD/CD drives, burning software, USB ports
  • Access to online Library resources
  • Includes Main Library and Curriculum Laboratory

Sit-down Computer Stations (Distributed)

Require log-in and password

  • Equipped with CD/DVD drives, burning software, USB ports
  • Provide access to online Library Information Resources 
     
    • UofL Users
      • Access to UofL printers using Bridge Bucks
      • Access to UofL network drives "P:" (personal drive)
      • Access to Microsoft Office Suite and other software programs that support courses and academic research
    • Community Users 
      • Access to UofL printers using the stand-up computer (OPAC) stations (using a guest Bridge Bucks card obtainable from the Bridge Bucks machine located near the Library entrance)
      • No access to any UofL network drives
      • Access to Microsoft Office Suite and other software programs that support courses and academic research

Sit-Down Computer Stations (Distributed) in Curriculum Laboratory

Require log-in and password

  • Includes MacIntosh and PC

Laptops

  • Personal Laptops
  • Circulating Laptops
    • PC and Mac
    • Printing available using Follow-You Printing
    • Can be booked and signed out at the Library Services Desk
      • Undergraduates - 4 hour loan period
      • Graduate students, faculty and staff - 24 hour loan period
    • Can access "P:" network drive using FTP
    • Access to Microsoft Office Suite and other software programs that support courses and academic research
    • Access to online Library Resources
       

Wireless Networks and VPN (Virtual Private Network)

  • Wireless networks
    • Un-secure network is Guest@UofL
    • Secure network is UofL (Faculty and staff)
    • Secure network is Student@UofL (Students)
    • Secure network is Eduroam (Students, faculty, staff and visitors from other educational institutions)
  • uLethbridge VPN (Virtual Private Network)
