Metadata

Descriptive metadata provides information about your data, and will help others find your data. It includes fields such as the title, author, and keywords.

Borealis provides many metadata fields that you can fill out about your data. We require some, but not all, fields be filled out according to the below guidance. However you may use as many of the metadata fields as are applicable to your data.

Title*

Full title by which the dataset is known.

Affiliation of the author. Write out in full.

The number/identifier of the individual.

This will be the person who is contacted about data requests and by Borealis administrators. This will likely be one of the authors, usually the primary investigator. Requires a valid email address as well as name/affiliation of the individual as above.

Description*

A summary describing the purpose, nature, and scope of the dataset. A good description will identify the content of the dataset and help a user determine if they have the technical ability to use it.

This dataset provides insights into the religious practices of first-generation Canadians. Compiled through surveys and interviews across diverse cultural groups, it offers a clear overview of the various religious traditions, beliefs, and rituals observed by immigrants in Canada. Researchers and policymakers can use this dataset to understand how religious identities evolve within immigrant communities, informing strategies for cultural integration and social cohesion.
