Distinguishing Characteristics
- Can also be called non-fiction books.
- Informational books must be accurate, authentic, up-to-date, factual, clearly organized, and include illustrations when needed.
- Many readers are drawn to non-fiction more than fiction.
- Texts range widely and include photo documentaries, narrative texts, how-to, question & answer books,
- activity books, field guides/ identification books, trivia collections.
- Informational picture books are a great way to introduce topics.
- In most library collections, find them using the call # 000-900 (eg. 595.92)
