Finding Journal Articles
The U of L Library subscribes to many databases that allow you to search for current and relevant journal articles on your research topic. Some of the most important databases in this field are listed below. Read the description of each database to determine which ones are most likely to include articles on your topic.
Databases usually provide article citation information and abstracts—summaries of what each article is about. Often, the full text of the article is available within the database or through a
link. If the full text of an article isn't available through the U of L Library, you may request it via an interlibrary loan.

Institute of Physics (IOP)
Access scholarly articles included in the Institute of Physics (IOP) collection of journals. Covers research in the areas of atomic and molecular physics, earth and environment, optical physics, mathematical physics, and measurements and instrumentation.
PROLA (Physical Review Online Archive)
Access journal content from the American Physical Society. Coverage has a three-year moving wall: the
current three years of full text is not available.
Search through articles and citations provided by AIP Publishing (American Institute of Physics) and its publishing partners in the field of physical and related sciences.

SCOAP3 - Sponsoring Consortium for Open Access Publishing in Particle Physics
Access scholarly articles covering high-energy physics. SCOAP3 is a project designed to convert key physics journals into Open Access.
CRC Handbook of Chemistry and Physics
Access reference material for chemistry and physics research. Features achievements of notable scientists, terminology, constants, units & conversion factors, as well as mathematical tables and sources of physical and chemical data.
Search physics literature, including journal papers, preprints, e-prints, technical reports, conference papers and theses. SPIRES_HEP is a joint project of Stanford Linear Accelerator Center (SLAC), DESY & FNAL as well as the worldwide HEP community.

Access the science, technology, and engineering research information from the U.S. Department of Energy. Covers broad disciplines such as physics, chemistry, biology & medicine, engineering, environmental sciences, materials, geoscience, and renewable energy sources.

SAO/NASA Astrophysics Data System (ADS)
Access records related to astrophysics, physics and geophysics. This database is operated by the Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory under a NASA grant. Includes citation tracking.
Content: Scholarly journals and publications, theses, NASA reports, books, astronomical object information, data catalogs, data sets
