Whether you already have a team, you'd like to join one, or you're going it alone, you're welcome to join our site! Even if you don't have any prior game development experience, we can help you find a team and a project that you can contribute to. Please note that this is an online event, and we will help facilitate communication through Microsoft Teams. GLHF!


Craft n Chill Paper Crafting header image

Time: Thursday, Jan. 28 | 1 - 4pm

Location: Microsoft Teams

Come and join us for an online Project Sandbox Craft n' Chill event. During this event, you will be able to hang out with other members from the University community and create a project out of paper! If paper crafting isn't your thing, fear not, you may create with any medium you choose. If you would rather just chat, that is okay too.

Ensure you register on the uLethbridge MyExperience platform if you plan on attending this event. An e-mail will be sent to you through this platform 24 hours prior to this event containing a link for a Microsoft Teams meeting. Feel free to join the event anytime between 1 - 4pm on Jan. 28.   • Card stock paper/construction paper/printer paper
  • Utility knife /box cutter or sharp pair of scissors

GIMP Digital Poster Workshop Header

Description: Join the University of Lethbridge Students’ Union and Project Sandbox on February 3rd for our joint GNU Image Manipulation Program (GIMP) workshop. This hands-on workshop walks participants through the process of creating a digital poster with the GIMP open source software. All University club leaders, students, and University members are welcome to attend. University students attending this workshop will receive credit on their MyExperience Transcript. In this workshop, participants will learn how to:

  • Setup a poster for print and digital
  • Navigate the GIMP interface
  • Use GIMP tools to create a customized design
  • Export designs in a variety of file types

Wix Website Creation Workshop

Description: Join the University of Lethbridge Students’ Union and Project Sandbox on February 23rd for our joint Wix workshop. This hands-on workshop walks participants through the process of creating a website with the Wix online platform. All University club leaders, students, and University members are welcome to attend. University students attending this workshop will receive credit on their MyExperience Transcript. In this workshop, participants will learn how to:

  • Set up a Wix webpage
  • Add content to your website
  • Customize website templates
  • Leverage native marketing tools for search engine optimization

Description: This hands-on workshop walks participants through the process of creating a 3D object with Tinkercad. Students attending this workshop will receive credit on their MyExperience Transcript. In this workshop, participants will learn:

  • How to navigate a 3D workspace
  • How to create complex objects from primitive shapes
  • Unique properties of native tools
  • Limits to imported items

Self-paced Workshops

Video editing with OpenShot header image

This asynchronous workshop walks participants through the process of creating a video with OpenShot. Participants will learn how to:

  • Import media files into OpenShot
  • Use video editing tools
  • Add effects to video projects
  • Use keyframes to create simple animations
  • Add and create title sequences
  • Export videos

Participants can complete this workshop by accessing the Project Sandbox Moodle course. Once in the course, participants will be directed to watch several videos and complete a series of activities within the OpenShot program. After ALL activities have been completed, participants will submit a YouTube link to their completed video in the assignment submission area associated with this workshop. Participants who do not complete all the activities will receive an e-mail detailing the activities they have not completed. Submissions that have all completed elements, will show as being complete on the My Experience Transcript two to three weeks after being submitted. This delay is in place to allow time for the submission to be adequately reviewed.


So you want to create a blog: How to use and customize WordPress header image

This asynchronous workshop walks participants through the process of creating and managing their own WordPress website. Participants will learn how to:

  • Customize the look and feel of their website
  • Add blog posts
  • Add new webpages
  • Add functionality to their site
  • Use basic HTML and CSS

Participants can complete this workshop by accessing the Project Sandbox Moodle course. Once in the course, participants will be directed to watch a video and complete a series of activities within the WordPress platform. After ALL activities have been completed, participants will submit a link to their completed website in the assignment submission area on the Moodle page. Participants who do not complete all of the activites will receive an e-mail detailing the activities they have not completed.
