Some basic resources to get started with NVivo Qualitative Analysis Software

Need help with an NVivo problem?

If you need help with an NVivo question, send an email to library.grad@uleth.ca (feel free to include screenshots of where the problems occur). The Library will do our best to assist with troubleshooting.

Are NVivo workshops available?

The Library periodically offers a two-part workshop in the use of the latest version of NVivo. Please note: NVivo is available for Windows and Mac OS but the Mac version does not include all of the features available on Windows. Each workshop is therefore specific to either Windows or Mac and will cover the following:

  • Part 1: Getting Started
    • import data
    • code data
    • basic queries

  • Part 2: Further Steps
    • cases
    • case classifications
    • more complex queries

Is there an NVIvo user manual?

The NVivo 14 user guide from Lumivero (the NVivo developer) is available here:

Lumivero also hosts an NVivo community forum where NVivo users can crowd-source solutions to challenges encountered in their NVivo project and experienced users can share their knowledge and trouble-shooting suggestions.
