Researching for Biology Labs: Databases for the Biological Sciences at the UofL

A lab guide for scientific writing and research.

FIND ARTICLES (tab) --> Databases by Subject --> Biological Sciences

Establish the good habit of starting your literature search from the Library homepage -- even if you are intending to search open access databases/indexes such as Google Scholar or PubMed

Open access indexes, such as PubMed or Google Scholar are indexes only -- meaning they do not contain full text -- meaning you have to find the full text elsewhere. In some cases, the location of the full text may be provided.   If you are on campus, this may not be a problem because our licensed resources are IP authenticated.  However, you may be frustrated off-campus if those links point to licensed journals.  Beginning your search from the Library homepage will allow you to access the journals subscribed to by the University of Lethbridge Library regardless of your location.

THE PATH:  Library Homepage | Find Articles (tab) | Databases by Subject | Biological Sciences

  • The Recommended list includes those resources that are highly relevant to the field.
