GIS (Geographic Information Systems) and Spatial Data resources available via the University of Lethbridge Library.

Windows XP or Vista

  • Navigate to the file that needs to be unzipped.
  • Right click the file.
  • Navigate to Extract All.

  • A window will appear that says "Welcome to the compressed (zipped) Folders Extraction Wizard)"
  • Click Next




  • The next menu lets you select a folder that the extracted files can unzip to. It will default to the location of the zipped file. If you want a different location click browse and choose the location.
  • Click Next




  • The files will extract now.
  • Finally click Finish




Windows 7

  • Navigate to file that needs to be unzipped.
  • Right click the file.
  • Navigate to Extract All.
  • Select a location where you want the extracted files to unzip to. It will default to the location of the zipped file. If you want a different location browse and choose the location.
  • Click Extract.


If your computer doesn't have the Extract All in the menu you may need to use a program to unzip files (e.g., WinZip). Download: http://www.winzip.com/index.htm

Mac OSX

  • Navigate to file that needs to be unzipped.
  • Double click the file.
  • The files will automatically unzip in to a folder.

If your computer won't extract the files you may need to use a program to unzip files (e.g., Stuffit Expander). Download: http://www.apple.com/downloads/
