Knowledge Mobilization & Impact

A selection of web tools that support scholarly research activities across the research lifecycle.

How arXiv.org Supports Research

What's the Research-Related Purpose?

  • To provide immediate dissemination and open access to scholarly articles (which often later appear in conventional journals). It is important to note, however, that arXiv is not a repository for otherwise unpublishable material, nor is it a refereed publication venue.
  • To provide perpetual availability of author research paper submissions.
  • arXiv.org was the original, but many offshoots have been created, such as medRxiv and bioRxiv.

Additional Information:

  • Authors must be registered to submit their articles to arXiv. Authors can also update their submissions if they choose, though previous versions remain available.
