APA Citation Style, Seventh Edition: Images & Art

Citing Images and Works of Art

For each type of source in this guide, both the general form and an example are provided.

The following format is used:

In-Text Citation (Paraphrase)  entry that appears in the body of your paper when you express the ideas of another using your own words. When paraphrasing, page numbers aren't required, but are often encouraged.

In-Text Citation (Quotation)  entry that appears in the body of your paper after a direct quote.

Reference – entry that appears at the end of your paper, in your References list.

Information on citing and some of the examples were drawn from the APA Manual, Seventh Edition.

Numbers in parentheses refer to sections in the Manual.
